Die Uni Köln ist dabei neben Greifswald die einzige Universität in Deutschland, die Fennistik als eigenständiges Bachelorfach anbietet. Allerdings braucht ihr an beiden Universitäten ein zweites Hauptfach. An den Universitäten in Hamburg, Göttingen und München ist Fennistik hingegen Bestandteil des Bachelorstudienganges Finnougristik.
